To celebrate BT Mobile’s new pay monthly handset offering, Strictly Come Dancing and Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote has recreated a series of iconic cultural phone moments from the past 70 years.
The TV actress was styled to replicate stars in famous phone scenes including Renée Zellweger in Bridget Jones (2001), Drew Barrymore in Scream (1996), Jerry Hall on the front cover of Vogue magazine (1975), Marilyn Monroe in How to Marry a Millionaire (1953) and Donna Reed in It’s A Wonderful Life (1946).
The striking images take a modern twist on the iconic phone moments by featuring the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, just one of the big brand handsets available on BT Mobile’s new pay monthly packages, which all include a £120 discount for BT broadband households.
The recreations produced show actress Georgia in a vast range of scenarios including Queen of mishaps Bridget Jones’ famous hair straightening phone call on the ironing board, and the edge-of-your-seat moment when Drew Barrymore’s character speaks to her killer in Scream.
The 25-year-old TV star also donned a bold blue swimsuit and swimming cap for Jerry Hall’s iconic pose for Vogue’s 1975 front cover, and reclined on a chaise long wearing a green gown and red lipstick as screen siren Marilyn Monroe in How to Marry a Millionaire. The fifth and final shot completing the series is American classic It’s A Wonderful Life’s momentous scene with Donna Reed and James Stewart as they listen on the phone together before their first kiss.
Georgia says: “I had so much fun recreating these classic phone scenes but bringing them up to date with handsets that you can now get with your packages from BT Mobile.”
“My job means that I have to stay away from home a lot, so it’s great that BT has got five million wi-fi hotspots that are free to use for BT Mobile customers, and if I can’t get onto wi-fi it’s fine because BT has the biggest 4G network in the whole of the UK.”
BT Mobile teamed up with leading film and TV production designer Sonja Klaus and photographer Darren Bell to recreate these iconic phone scenes. Sonja is best known for her work on productions including TV drama Mr Selfridge and Hollywood hits Gladiator and Prometheus. Darren has previously worked with film stars including Reese Witherspoon and live productions including the BAFTA and The Olivier Awards.
Kelly Barlow, Director of Voice and Mobile for BT, says: “The scenes we’ve recreated are some of the most memorable phone moments in cultural history, but with a modern twist. They really bring to life our fantastic new pay monthly handset offering. These moments are all classics that we know and love and we feel they are a fitting celebration of our fantastic smartphone deals.”
The new pay monthly deals from BT Mobile include an exceptional combination of 4G on the UK's biggest network as well as unlimited access to the most extensive wi-fi coverage in the country via more than five million BT Wi-fi hotspots. It is the latest development from BT Mobile who launched its SIM Only plans last year with packages from as little as £5 a month.
As part of the brand new handsets offering, BT Broadband customers receive a £120 discount on all smartphone plans. All customers can choose from three simple plans offering data allowances of 500MB, 3GB or 15GB. They can also avoid nasty surprise bills with monthly spend caps and usage alerts, as well as keep tabs on what allowances they are using through the BT Mobile app. In addition, all BT Mobile SIMs now allow tethering.
